Folks in Eckington and Bloomingdale, along the North Capitol Street leg of the National Marathon, are planning on helping out tomorrow by cheering and handing out cups of water. A water station will be set up at North Capitol and Quincy Place (I'm not sure if it'll be on the NE or NW side), and race officials are asking that they be prepared by 8:45am tomorrow morning, March 24th. If you can add to the needed 30 gallons of water and 1000 small cups, I'm sure it will much appreciated.
» DC.gov info about street closures from 7am-2pm, Saturday, March 24th - the only ways over North Capitol during that time, unless you go north of Michigan Avenue or south of K Street, will be the bridges on Rhode Island and New York Avenues.

The Mautner Project; The National Lesbian Health Organization needs VOLUNTEERS for D.C. area Pride events in May & June!!
ReplyDeleteThe Mautner Project needs volunteers for Black Pride (May 24th - 28th), and Capital Pride (June 9th & 10th)! We will be present at various events for each of these Pride celebrations, and need enthusiastic volunteers to help us educate and spread the word about our services!
Volunteers are needed to set up, breakdown, work the Mautner Project’s table, and sign people up for our mailing list at the Capital Pride Festival on Sunday June 10th from Noon - 7 pm (Historic Pennsylvania Avenue between 3rd and 7th Streets, NW) and for similar work at the Black Pride 2nd Annual Health and Wellness Expo Saturday May 26th from Noon – 4pm (Renaissance M Street Hotel, City Center)
A Pride Volunteer training night will be held the evening of Wednesday, May 16th at 6:30pm. If you’d like to volunteer but have a conflict with training night, please contact us.
