Homicide in the 1300 Block of Saratoga Avenue, NE

From MPD:
On Monday, April 23, 2007, at approximately 3:44 am, police were called to the 1300 block of Saratoga Avenue, NE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival police located 20-year-old Delonte Marshall, of the 1500 block of 45th Street, NE, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit and admitted in serous condition.

On Monday, April 24, 2007, Delonte Marshall succumbed to his injury and was pronounced dead.

The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at 202.727.9099.

The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

    run over girl (dead)= $10k

    man shot (dead) = $25k

    raped woman (while child was held by a second man and forced to watch) = $1k

    is that messed up, or is it just me?

  2. Yeah - I believe all homicides (sans car-inflicted) get the $25K reward. After that, I don't know what [arbitrary] system is used.

  3. initially, the girl in northeast on 6th street was $1k.

    after a week they upped it to $10k.

    i just don't get it.

    perhaps i'm just retarded. :o/

  4. RIP Lonte. I know that times are hard for your mom right now after losing your older brother only 2 1/2 years ago. The Marshall family is in my prayers.
